The collection
: The Oriental-inspired collection of Narendra Kumar, showcased at Mindscapes Maestros KFW2, had a lot of Japanese influence. From the button holes to the Kimono-inspired belts on mens jackets, the influences were many. Another aspect of Naris collection was his menswear line, which scored high over his womens wear. The use of leather and stylised balloon skirts were all there.
But the double breasted jackets and tuxedos helped in drawing attention to the designers menswear line. It was classy and at the same time wearable. Beige, rust and blacks were the colours used, drawing inspiration from the darker side of Japan.
The showstopper Neil Nitin Mukesh for Nari show said, Nari is like my elder brother. I love the outfit and for sure, I am going to steal it if he doesnt gift it to me. I was nervous initially, but once I was on the ramp, I felt confident. What I like about his clothes is that they are simple yet smart and stylish. Narendra, on his part said, I have used cottons, linens, micro fibres, velvets and wool in my creations. I have concentrated on the cuts and style. The collection has little embroidery to give it a modern look. A lot of geometric patterns were used in womens wear. I have also used a lot of shiny material as it is in vogue now. What we liked: We liked the look of the models. The silhouettes deserve a special mention. Those who saw: The cuts are excellent. Though sheen is in now and Narendra Kumar has used it in many of his outfits, he should have shown something classic which could be worn by men above 40, said Ratul Sood.
